OKSE Conference 2015

Welcome to the Organisation of Kettlebell Sport Conference Page

The first ever OKSE conference took place in Leeds,at the excellent Primal Gym,last weekend (September 5th and 6th) . Attendees enjoyed a short session at the beginning where OKSE committee members shared what they have achieved since the formation of OKSE in 2014, talked about what OKSE hopes to achieve in the future and listened to the views of conference delegates. Our new counters were also demonstrated to the group. We hope these will help us improve the standard of feedback to athletes as they are competing.

Both Aleksander Khvostov and Aleksandra Vasileva gave excellent training sessions, giving insight into jerk, long cycle and snatch. They gave both group and individual tuition, helping all members of the group understand the three lifts and improve tecnique.

On Sunday Ste Gordon gave us a talk on his strength and conditioning program for kettlebell sport athletes and Aleksander Khvostov gave us a taste of GPP and lift specific training.

An extra bonus session came from Darren Stratton (a top strength and conditioning coach) who gave a mobility/stability talk and advice to individual athletes. Thank you Darren.

We also had time for a bit of fun and laughter:

Unfortunately, our judging tutors ran into travel difficulties, However Aleksandra Vasileva stepped in and translated the new IUKL rules for us. We also had a useful discussion about correct lock out position. We hope to re-run the judging course on October 4th. The conference ended with certificates and a group photograph. We hope next year will be even bigger and better. Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to a great weekend.
